Have you ever had one of them days where things just don’t seem to flow right? I’ve been on that road a tad too much. Nothing so dramatic though, I’m referring to regular domestic chores. Last Saturday I had a pile of laundry in the machine ready to go but intentionally not started (just incase I forgot a sock or something), a half cleaned room with a mop lingering somewhere, a half drank cup of tea and a partly made bed. I think you get the picture. Nothing is finished but everything is in motion. And that’s when I heard my mother’s little voice in my head, Maria one thing at a time. There it goes again. I always remember her words when I get myself into a tight spot. The half finished business is something that keeps haunting me.
I was also famously reminded to laugh as life is too short to hold grudges. I’ve always worn my heart on my sleeve ever since I was a child. So my mother was quite right in reminding me to let go. She also told me (on repeat) that if you want something done, do it yourself. A mantra that helped me in many situations in my life.
Advice flows naturally from mothers I suppose. Some we put to good use while some we choose to forego. It’s amazing how some things are still embedded in me regardless of how long a go it was passed on. My mother is long gone but to this date, I still live with her voice in my head.
Like me, are you also caught up in that little voice in your daily life? I’d appreciate some of your mama’s words, if you care to share please.
I met these beautiful daughters on holiday on their way to refresh the guest rooms. They always did an amazing job. Just not sure if they also got sidetracked at their jobs like me.
